Our Current Chair

Paul Mullins OBE

Paul has been a mergers and acquisitions adviser for 25 years at Schroders, Citigroup, Bank of America and DC Advisory. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.  From 2008 to 2016 Paul was a member of the BIS sponsored Industrial Development Advisory Board, serving as Chair from 2012. He is currently Chair of The Unilink Group (since 2015) and Chair of MWS Technology (since 2018).

Dan Williams

Programme Leader and Lecturer on PGCE Post 14 Education and Training, University of Derby
Dan is Programme Leader and Lecturer on PGCE Post 14 Education and Training at the University of Derby, working with practitioners from a range of providers to develop their teaching, learning and assessment practice.

Dr Nigel Leigh OBE

Principal and Chief Executive, Stephenson College
Nigel has been the Principal and Chief Executive of Stephenson College in Coalville, North West Leicestershire since 1 October 2007.
Having trained originally as a teacher and subsequently as a solicitor, Nigel has a doctorate from the University of Birmingham for research into the impact of skills competitions on quality improvement strategies for colleges of Further Education.

Mick Ord

Chief Executive Officer, Chemring Group Plc
In June 2018 Mick was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Chemring Group Plc.
He was educated in Northumberland and the Royal Naval Engineering College, Plymouth, graduating in Aeronautical Systems Engineering and is a Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering Council. Mick completed postgraduate management studies at Manchester Business School.

Dr Sue Pember OBE

Director of Policy and External Relations, Holex
Sue Pember is a former senior government official and college principal. Sue has expert knowledge of teaching, leading further and adult education services and has worked in colleges, local education authorities, industry and government. She presently provides policy advice to HOLEX and to those interested in adult education.

Sally Dicketts CBE

CEO, Activate Learning
Sally Dicketts has held senior posts in both secondary schools and further education. She became Principal at
Milton Keynes College in 1996, and in 2003 became the first Principal of Oxford & Cherwell Valley College.

Florence Orban

Director of Corporate Development, RLSB
Florence Orban is Director of Corporate Development at RLSB and was CEO of the National Skills Academy for Sport until 2011. She was Chair of Interactive, the strategic agency for disability sport in London until its merger with London Sport in March 2016.

Steve Freer

Chair of Audit
Steve Freer held the position of Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) from 2000-2013, following a successful career spanning the public and private sectors.  

Zayn Azam

Trainee IT Engineer, Qubic Group Plc
Zayn is a Trainee IT Engineer for Qubic Group Plc, a managed enterprise cloud computing business which adds value through people, technology and process. He is currently completing a Level 3 Apprenticeship in IT, Web and Telecoms with Solveway Apprenticeships and is due to continue his studies with a Degree Apprenticeship fully supported by Qubic Group.
